Research & Innovation Services (RIS) are organising a series of events around the University in February and March to update staff on the upcoming Research Excellence Framework (REF). There will be two types of events.

1.  REF General Information Sessions

REF General Information sessions will explain the purpose of REF and how it is governed and carried out (https://www.ref.ac.uk/).

These sessions are open to all staff but may be of particular interest to early career researchers and new international recruits who have not previously been involved in a REF cycle. At the end of the session, there will be an opportunity to ask questions. Places are limited and interested parties should book as soon as possible.

To register for one of these sessions please select your preferred session below and you will be directed to PDMS pages to sign up.

2. REF 2021 Open Fora Events

The University of St Andrews’ Code of Practice on the identification of eligible staff and selection of research outputs for REF 2021 is being developed and will be consulted on late February/early March 2019. To this end, the Vice Principal (Research and Innovation) supported by the Institutional REF 2021 Equality and Diversity Review Group (IRED) will lead three Open Fora events for staff during the Code of Practice consultation period.

REF 2021 Open Fora event will consist of a presentation followed by a Q&A session.

These events are open to all staff and registration is not required.

The dates/times for the Open Fora Events are:

  • 27 February 2019 (12.00 -13.00, Buchanan Lecture Theatre)
  • 7 March 2019 (13.00 – 14.00, Medical Booth Lecture Theatre)
  • 11 March 2019 (13.00 – 14.00, Medical Booth Lecture Theatre)
